Screening for skin cancer including computer documentation

Skin cancer is among the most common tumour diseases and is almost always curable if detected and treated in due time. In the screening for skin cancer, moles are examined and tested for suspicious criteria with the help of a special magnifier called a dermatoscope. In addition to that, computed skin cancer analysis is available: Here, a base line picture is taken at first to facilitate the location of the mole again during check-ups. Afterwards, a close-up image is taken which is then examined using a special software analysis program.

Within the scope of regular check-ups the base line pictures are compared to detect any newly emerged naevi. At the same time, another close-up image is taken of suspicious moles and compared with previous pictures in order to diagnose suspicious changes in due time.
